Deputy Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers Aleksandar Goganović conveyed during a meeting with the U.S. Defense Attaché in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brigadier Gregory Holmes, that the Serb people remain a reliable partner to the American people.
“I am convinced that the Serb people will continue to be a key partner of the American people in this part of Europe in the future, just as they were in the past, especially during the historic ‘Halyard’ mission, when the Serb people demonstrated humanity and alliance by rescuing American and Allied pilots. That spirit of partnership and mutual respect represents a solid foundation for the further development of relations between the Serb and American peoples,” Goganović stated.
During the meeting in Sarajevo, Goganović expressed gratitude for the successful cooperation to date in the field of defense, as well as for long-standing support.
Holmes thanked Goganović for an open and constructive discussion, emphasizing the importance of continuing the partnership.
The interlocutors discussed the upcoming participation of the Armed Forces in the peace mission in Gaza, as well as the helicopter procurement project for the Armed Forces, which is being implemented with U.S. support, the Cabinet of the Deputy Minister of Defense in the Council of Ministers announced.
The meeting also addressed possibilities for further development of cooperation with the state of Maryland, with which Bosnia and Herzegovina has had a signed Partnership Program since 2003, enabling the development of cooperation among institutions at the BiH level, as well as at the entity and local levels, and with academic, health, and other institutions.
