In the National Assembly of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka, the President of Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, solemnly took the oath and assumed office.
“My Serb people, once again I wish to thank you for this trust, so that today I can stand here with honor and pride before the deputies and our people. I stand here with honor because you have shown that the Serb people, every time when it was most difficult, were the ones who made sovereign decisions. It was precisely through such a sovereign decision that Republika Srpska was created, and it will remain forever. As president, I can thank everyone, and especially those who gave me their trust. Special thanks to the leader of SNSD, Milorad Dodik, for entrusting me to continue where he left off. To SNSD and coalition partners, as well as to our Republika, I thank you here before all of you, and also to those who voted against,” Karan said.
He added that the struggle for Republika Srpska must continue, that what was granted by the Dayton Peace Agreement must be preserved, and that the priority should be the protection of Republika Srpska.

“It is defended and most attacked where we are all together. That is where we must gather under the flag called Republika Srpska and act as one body, because only in that way will we preserve our Republika. The people stand behind all of us, and that is our duty and obligation. Gratitude to all presidents who made a great contribution to Republika Srpska becoming an international factor, as well as thanks to all of you and the institutions of Republika Srpska. The will of the people will be sacred, and the Constitution will guide me to preserve and safeguard the status of Republika Srpska. Once again, thank you to all citizens,” Karan added.
We recall that the Central Election Commission earlier confirmed the results of the snap election for the President of Republika Srpska, thereby certifying the victory of the SNSD candidate, Siniša Karan.
