“It is a great honor to be chosen among so many athletes,” said David Vuković, the best athlete of Republika Srpska for 2025, in an interview for RTRS Morning Program. The selection is organized by Glas Srpske.
Vuković emphasized that athletes should not compare themselves to others, but strive each day to become better.
“I believe sport is a daily battle with yourself,” he said.
He noted that teammates play a crucial role, and that team spirit is built from a young age.
“I wouldn’t have achieved anything without them. The same goes for coaches — they are there to advise us and also to criticize us when needed. Even in difficult moments, they give us the push we need,” Vuković said.
Looking ahead to next year, when Football Club Borac marks its 100th anniversary, Vuković hopes the team will secure a place in European competitions and surpass last season’s results.
“People in the city, just like us in the club, are still not fully aware of what we accomplished last year. For the club’s centenary, I hope we’ll reach Europe,” he stated.
Vuković is currently undergoing rehabilitation for a shoulder injury but says he expects to rejoin the team in January.
His selection was confirmed not only by the expert jury at yesterday’s “Athlete of Republika Srpska” ceremony, but also by readers of Glas Srpske, as he received the most votes on social media and via SMS, earning him the audience award as well.
The statue for the best athlete of Republika Srpska for 2025 was presented to him by the jury president, current head coach of the Serbia national football team, Veljko Paunović.
