Dodik: I fully support the Serbian President’s initiative for the entire Western Balkans to join the EU simultaneously

Milorad Dodik, President of SNSD, said he fully supports the initiative of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić for the entire Western Balkans to join the European Union at the same time.

“It is a rational, mature, and statesmanlike approach that understands the complexity of our region and the inseparable interconnectedness of all of us who live here,” Dodik wrote on X.

Dodik stated that the Western Balkans today is the clearest example of the failed foreign policy approach of Brussels bureaucracy.

“For years we have been watching how non-strategic decisions and the particular interests of others create a vicious circle in which countries are not blocked because they lack the will for EU membership, but because of unreasonable and often impossible demands that have no connection to the reality of life in this region. In the heart of Europe, there is a growing risk of leaving behind several ‘eternal candidates,’ and not through any fault of their own,” he said.

He stressed that this is why Vučić’s proposal represents the only approach that guarantees peace, stability, and progress for everyone — instead of favouring certain sides and deepening divisions.

“In Bosnia and Herzegovina, we see attempts to use EU integration as a cover to push state centralization at the expense of the Serb people. This is neither a European nor a sustainable model, and it is important to emphasize that regional stability cannot be built by harming any nation, but only through rational agreement and mutual respect,” Dodik added.

He stated that Vučić’s proposal moves precisely in that direction.

“That is why it has my full support as a statesmanlike initiative that opens space for realistic solutions, rather than bureaucratic experiments in Brussels,” Dodik said.
