The National Assembly of Republika Srpska has proudly and persistently defended the sovereignty and rights of Republika Srpska for 34 years, resisting all attempts by unitarists who seek to weaken and deprive it of its powers, President Milorad Dodik said.
“I am very proud of the fact that I was among the members of parliament who, back in 1991, took part in the formation of the Assembly of the Serb People. By making historic decisions — such as the establishment of Republika Srpska on January 9, 1992, followed by the adoption of the Constitution of Republika Srpska and the Law on the Formation of the Army of Republika Srpska, which led the defense of our people — we laid the foundations of the statehood of Republika Srpska,” Dodik wrote on X.
He emphasized the importance of younger generations understanding how much wisdom and courage were required in those challenging times for the Serb national identity.
“All members of parliament at that time — both from the government and the opposition — stood united on the key national issues. That unity is needed today as well, so that we can protect and defend our Republika Srpska,” Dodik concluded.
