Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić announced that an Israeli company will soon launch a multi-million-euro investment project in Gradiška, emphasizing that an increasing number of foreign investors recognize Republika Srpska as a stable environment offering numerous incentives.
Minić noted that the Italian industrial giant PMP recently opened one of Europe’s most advanced foundries in Laktaši, with an investment of 50–60 million euros.
“It took more than two years for foreign investors to see that there is stability here — that our tax policy is attractive thanks to incentives such as affordable electricity, competitive labor costs, and favorable conditions provided by municipalities in business zones, as well as government subsidies,” Minić said.
He stressed that Republika Srpska’s fiscal system is completely stable, as confirmed by the regular fulfillment of all financial obligations.
Commenting on the credit rating, Minić said it has been affected more by political than economic factors, recalling that the former U.S. administration imposed sanctions on individuals and companies and even threatened banks.
Regarding the public enterprise Šume Srpske (Forests of Srpska), Minić pointed out visible progress, noting that wood assortment prices have not changed in a decade and warning that any drastic increase could negatively impact the wood-processing sector.
“Šume Srpske employs 4,600 people directly, while the wood-processing industry employs over 15,000. If you raise prices excessively just to maintain liquidity in Šume Srpske, you’ll create a domino effect that harms the entire sector,” he told EuroBlic.
He added that repayment plans are being honored, and all financial obligations toward municipalities and cities are being fulfilled.
Minić revealed that over 180 criminal charges have been filed concerning irregularities in Šume Srpske, and the matter is now in the hands of prosecutors.
“I’ve instructed the Minister of Justice, Goran Selak, to compile a comprehensive report since several prosecutors’ offices are involved. The process of determining and sanctioning all forms of malpractice in Šume Srpske will not only be made public but will also result in accountability,” Minić concluded.
