Busija on Majevica increasingly attractive to tourists

The tourist potential of Majevica is being increasingly recognized by numerous domestic and foreign visitors. A prime example is the Busija excursion site, which is recording record attendance.

Enterprising owners are expanding the offer in several directions, giving more and more reasons to visit this destination at the border point of Lopare, Brčko, and Tuzla. Support is also coming from the Government of Srpska.

Majevica’s Busija, at an altitude of 850 meters, captivates with the beauty of untouched nature and exceptionally clean air from the canopies of centuries-old trees.

Many excursionists use their free time to enjoy nature precisely at this spot.

Enterprising investors are developing this tourist potential with the help of the Government of Republika Srpska, as well as Lopare and Bijeljina.

The first condition for tourism development was the construction of a quality road. This was followed by the creation of a lake, the arrangement of two ski slopes, the opening of a restaurant, and the construction of cottages and apartments.

“We need to asphalt at least one kilometer of this path, which is two and a half kilometers long, will be illuminated, and will serve exclusively for walkers, cyclists, and a tourist train. There are plenty of plans, it only takes time, good will, and a bit of help from the state regarding the 5.5-kilometer-long road, of which only asphalting remains,” said Svetozar Ostojić, director of the company Green Hills.

The largest number of visitors gather at Busija Lake during the Epiphany cross-swimming. A church dedicated to Saint Stephen is also under construction.

“With the blessing of Metropolitan Fotije, the foundations have already been consecrated. God willing, by next summer we expect the completion and consecration of the entire building,” added Ostojić.

By the decision of the Government of Republika Srpska, a larger area of land that had previously been unused was allocated for the excursion site.

It is planned that by next winter a ski lift and a roller coaster for the ski slope will be operational, reports RTRS.

For now, a conveyor belt lift has been installed for young skiers who are already enjoying a unique slide in the pine forest.
