In East Ilidža, the first take of the feature film and TV series The Line in Republika Srpska has been filmed, inspired by the motifs from War Surgeon’s Diary by Dr. Miodrag Lazić.
Filming in Serbia began in mid-August at the Kovilj Monastery.
The film and series are directed by professor at the Academy of Arts in Belgrade, Dragoljub Elčić, with the screenplay written by writer Željko Pržulj.
One of the most complex projects of domestic cinematography brings together more than 80 actors and over 2,000 extras.
The film and TV series The Line will be filmed until next spring, with the final scenes depicting the biblical exodus of Serbs from Sarajevo.
The premiere is scheduled for September 15 next year in East Sarajevo, on the Day of Serb Unity and the National Flag.
“Our goal is to tell the world the story of our people, to show how things really were, and that we are different from how we have been portrayed. This is a national project carried out with the support of the institutions of Srpska and Serbia,” said Goran Ikonić, producer of the film and TV series The Line.
The director of the film and TV series, Slobodan Stojanović, stated that in about ten days filming will take place in Vojkovići and Grlica, in order to depict the Sarajevo battlefield.
In 1991, Dr. Miodrag Lazić left his position as a surgeon in Niš and went to Republika Srpska Krajina, later becoming the only surgeon in what was then Serb Sarajevo, where during the war he performed more than 3,500 operations.
Preparations for the start of filming lasted four years, roughly the same amount of time Dr. Lazić spent saving lives on the Sarajevo front.
