Minister of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska, Borivoje Golubović, said that the International Book Fair in Banja Luka, organized by the daily Glas Srpske, has for 30 years contributed to restoring the dignity that books deserve, while placing creators – writers and publishers – at the forefront.
Golubović emphasized that over the years, the Fair has grown into a cultural institution that brings together the most important publishers of contemporary Serb and world literature and humanities, and represents one of the most significant cultural events in Republika Srpska.
“After 29 successful previous fairs, the organizer has confirmed that this literary and cultural event, which is regionally recognized, pushes boundaries and significantly contributes to enhancing international literary and cultural cooperation between writers and publishers of Republika Srpska and other countries, opening numerous possibilities and opportunities for further promotion of our literature beyond our borders,” Golubović told SRNA.
He also highlighted the importance of the Fair in encouraging communication, cooperation, and creativity among children, as well as the constructive use of new technologies in reading activities.
“This fair allows us to significantly contribute to the popularization of books, the development of love for reading as a quality way of spending free time, the improvement of children’s reading skills, and the promotion of reading as the foundation of lifelong learning,” Golubović emphasized.
He added that the goal of the Ministry of Education and Culture is to restore the dignity of books and to place the focus on creators – writers and publishers.
Golubović also noted that thanks to the partnership between Glas Srpske and the Ministry of Education and Culture, cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Serbia has continued, with the joint presentation of publishers at the stand of Serbia’s Ministry of Culture significantly enriching this event and contributing to the affirmation of the literary scene.
This year as well, the Ministry of Education and Culture supported the organization of the International Book Fair in Banja Luka, allocating 25,000 KM.
Organized by Glas Srpske, the jubilee 30th International Book Fair “Banja Luka 2025” will be held from September 16 to 22 in the “Borik” Sports Center in Banja Luka.
The opening of the 30th International Book Fair is scheduled for September 16 at 6:00 p.m. in the “Borik” arena, with the ceremonial address this year to be delivered by Serbian writer, screenwriter, and academic Dušan Kovačević.
