The Serb member of the Presidency of BiH, Željka Cvijanović, submitted an initiative to the Presidency of BiH proposing that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
In the explanation of this initiative, Cvijanović emphasized that during his second term, President Donald Trump, through his diplomatic engagement and personal authority, achieved results that left a significant mark on international relations and contributed greatly to the stabilization of numerous global crises.
“Recognizing his efforts and achievements in the field of peace, I consider it justified and well-deserved that the Presidency of BiH should decide to propose His Excellency President Donald J. Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize,” the initiative states.
She pointed out that in the short period since taking office as the 47th President of the United States, Trump’s proactive actions contributed to halting several armed conflicts and resolving serious security crises.
“The peace agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan, concluded in August 2025 at the White House, marked the end of a long-standing conflict in the South Caucasus and opened the perspective of a new era of regional cooperation and security. His engagement in Asia is also evident, where, through the diplomatic efforts of the U.S. administration under President Trump, conflicts between India and Pakistan, as well as Thailand and Cambodia, were brought to an end. The ceasefire in Yemen, concluded in May 2025, made it possible to stop the escalation in the Red Sea region and created conditions for humanitarian activities. With Trump’s efforts, in June 2025 a peace agreement was signed in Washington, halting the conflict between Rwanda and the DR Congo, which testifies to the global character of Trump’s activities in the interest of peace,” the Serb member of the Presidency emphasized.
Cvijanović also highlighted Trump’s indispensable role in efforts to achieve peace in Europe, as well as peace initiatives and innovative approaches in the Middle East, aimed at preventing further escalation in the region through contacts with Israel, Iran, and Palestine, which contributed to strengthening the prospects for stability in one of the most security-challenged regions of the world.
“It is clear that the diplomatic efforts of His Excellency President Trump have produced visible and tangible results in different parts of the world, from Europe, through Africa, to Asia and the Middle East. Through President Trump’s efforts, global security and safety have been significantly enhanced. Based on the above, I believe it is justified for the Presidency of BiH, at its 25th regular session, to consider this item on the agenda and adopt a decision on the official nomination of His Excellency Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, for the Nobel Peace Prize,” the initiative of the Serb member of the Presidency concludes.
