The ensemble of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska departed today for Kazan, where on August 19 and 20 they will perform the play “The German Woman” on the Main Stage of the Tatar State Academic Theatre Galiaskar Kamal.
– We are the first theatre outside of Russia to perform in the new building of the Kamal Theatre, which was completed last year. Two performances of our play from the 95th season, which has already been widely staged at home, are ahead of us – said Dijana Grbić, director of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska, in a statement to SRNA.
Grbić emphasized that the visit was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Srpska, and the Ministry of Culture of Tatarstan.
– We are very pleased that this visit to the Russian city and the Tatar State Academic Theatre Galiaskar Kamal has been realized. We are performing in Kazan thanks to the Protocol between Republika Srpska and the Republic of Tatarstan on trade, economic, scientific, technical, social, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation – Grbić noted.
The award-winning play “The German Woman”, based on a text by Laza Lazarević and directed and dramatized by Dušan Petrović, will be simultaneously translated by Nataša Kecman.
A guest performance by the theatre from Kazan in Banja Luka is also planned for the next theatre season.
At the end of July, a delegation from Tatarstan, which included Deputy Minister of Culture Damir Natfulin and a cultural, scientific, and educational advisor from the Embassy of the Russian Federation, was introduced to the work, history, and significance of the National Theatre of Republika Srpska in the culture of Srpska and the wider region.
