academic vitomir popović assessed that the upcoming referendum in Republika Srpska is extremely important for making future decisions and achieving serb national interests and goals.
popović said that public opinion at the referendum will express its stance, even though it cannot change judgments or produce a different outcome in the context of the decisions made and the removal of the mandate from the president of Republika Srpska, milorad dodik.
he noted that what is happening is not only a gross violation of the constitution of Republika Srpska and BiH, but also of the highest standards within international conventions regulating elections.
- domestic sources of law are also being violated here, primarily the election law – said popović, a university professor and member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Republika Srpska.
he reiterated that the process against president dodik was politically orchestrated from the beginning.
popović emphasized that only the body that elected a legally chosen president can remove him.
he believes it is high time that all factors in Republika Srpska carefully consider everything, draw appropriate lessons, remain steadfast, and define what, above all, constitutes the serb national interest.
- that interest is the independence of Republika Srpska, to be realized one day when conditions allow. however, this does not mean transferring republican competencies to the BiH level or accepting decisions imposed by certain representatives of the international community – popović told srna.
he stressed that unity among serb political and all other factors is, at this moment, as necessary as daily bread.
popović points out that the goal of foreigners is to have as many small parties as possible, because then it is easier to govern them.
- moreover, it becomes more difficult to reach agreements and express what we call serb national unity, achieving national interests and goals in every respect, including attaining the independence of Republika Srpska – popović emphasized.
regarding achieving unity among serb political factors, popović said he cannot believe that some, so-called representatives of the people with a small number of votes in the elections, rush to obtain a ministerial position at the BiH level.
- there are such people, and there will be more in the future. they will be the “greatest allies” of foreigners whose goal is to divide what today constitutes Republika Srpska or Serbia. these are known methods throughout the history of all nations – popović said.
in Republika Srpska, following the unconstitutional court ruling of BiH against the president of Republika Srpska, milorad dodik, a referendum should be held based on the decision of the National Assembly of Srpska.
