President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik emphasized that he has no intention of leaving Republika Srpska.
“I’m here and I will stay here. I will carry out the function given to me by the people. I have no intention of leaving Srpska. I will defeat them with their own weapon – politics,” Dodik stated in a video posted on Instagram.
At a press conference today, following a meeting of coalition party leaders in Republika Srpska, Dodik reiterated that his mandate was granted by the people and that it is the people who will decide on his future through a referendum.
“The coalition is determined to continue defending the constitutional and Dayton position of Republika Srpska and notes that this position is seriously threatened by the actions of Christian Schmidt, who is neither legal nor legitimate, not confirmed by the UN Security Council, and backed only by a single political will,” said Dodik.
To recall, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina unanimously overturned the will of the people and adopted a decision to revoke the mandate of President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, who received the support of 300,000 citizens in the 2022 elections.
The decision is subject to appeal.
The mandate revocation is declarative for now, as it will only become final after the appeal period expires, explained CEC member Suad Arnautović. He noted that due to paperwork, the process could take a month or two.
