East Sarajevo: Rich program of the book fair from August 18 to 21

The book fair in East Sarajevo, taking place from August 18 to 21, will bring together numerous publishers and exhibitors from Republika Srpska. Literary gatherings and book promotions are also planned, according to the City Central Library, which is organizing the event.

The fair will open on August 18 with a keynote address by writer Ranko Pavlović, recipient of numerous awards and honors.

Afterward, his latest book Vatrišta will be promoted, along with the book of interviews Ranko Pavlović – All You Don’t Know About Me by Branko Perić.

On the second day, August 19, Professor Darko Kovačević will give a lecture titled A Tribute to Momo Kapor at 7:00 p.m., followed at 8:00 p.m. by a literary evening with Branko Rosić from Belgrade, whose life path spans the punk scene, electronic music, an engineering degree, and a rich journalistic career.

Rosić is the author of the novels And It All Started So Well, Clearing Skies Forecast for Tomorrow, and The Matador’s Arrival.

The book Mihailo Miron: Philosopher and Poet will be promoted on August 20 at 7:00 p.m. The edition is dedicated to the life and work of a thinker, poet, and spiritual seeker whose work left a lasting mark on contemporary culture and philosophical thought.

Librarians Ivana Kuljanin and Marijana Petronić from the Central Library, who compiled this work, will speak about the book, aiming to bring Miron’s thought, poetry, and spiritual world closer to the audience.

Later that evening, at 8:00 p.m., Vukašin Milićević’s novel Resurrection will be promoted. The novel explores the history of Christian doctrine and political philosophy, as well as the place of traditional religion in the contemporary Balkan context.

The final day of the fair is reserved for the promotion of the Republika Srpska Institute for Textbooks and Teaching Aids and the presentation of the book Library Cats Sleep Upside Down by Berislav Blagojević. The fair will close with a concert by Dušan Sekulić.

The book fair will be held at Trg Srbija. In case of rain, literary evenings and promotions will be moved to the internet reading room of the Central Library in East Sarajevo.

The fair is organized as part of the “Summer in East Sarajevo” event series.
