Tadić: By politicizing the judiciary, they legitimized the use of political maneuvers

No one should question why the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik—clearly recognizing that the timing was right—wisely used legal arguments to dismantle the absurdity of the detention order and the arrest warrant, said legal expert Ognjen Tadić in a statement to SRNA.

“Especially not those who were hoping he would be detained and are now disappointed. Participants in this political witch hunt—who are now questioning political consistency—should have been aware from the beginning that by introducing politics into the judiciary, they effectively legitimized the use of political maneuvers by those defending themselves against political persecution,” Tadić emphasized.

He added that, for this reason, persecuted representatives of Republika Srpska should not be questioned for using political tactics to defend themselves against the political abuses of the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of BiH. Instead, questions should be directed to Christian Schmidt, Elmedin Konaković, and their loyal mouthpieces such as Zukan Helez, Ramo Isak, Denis Zvizdić, and certain individuals from Republika Srpska, asking why they have abused these institutions for political purges and retaliation.

“It would be easier for them if they publicly admitted that they turned the Prosecutor’s Office and the Court of BiH into a political stage—especially the most tragic among them, Elmedin Konaković. It is clear that he was tasked with overseeing the loyalty of judges and prosecutors, as he now threatens them for overturning the detention order and arrest warrant in an attempt to shift blame away from himself in front of his foreign sponsors,” Tadić concluded.

The Court of BiH issued a ruling yesterday accepting the Prosecutor’s proposal to revoke the detention order against Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik, effectively cancelling the arrest warrant that had been issued against him.

The detention was lifted after it was determined that the conditions under which it had been initially imposed no longer existed.

Previously, the Court of BiH had ordered one month of detention for President Dodik on suspicion of committing the alleged criminal offense of “undermining the constitutional order.”
