For years, I have been warning that fundamentalist Islamism in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a fabricated threat, but a serious security reality. The foiled terrorist attack in Vienna, involving radicalized migrants, confirms how crucial borders, law, and cooperation are for ensuring safety, stated Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska.
“I welcome the timely action of intelligence services and the proof that international security cooperation—when real and concrete—saves lives. The debate we initiated in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska on rejecting the British plan to resettle rejected migrants was not ideological rhetoric, but a matter of hard facts and security,” Dodik wrote on his Twitter account.
He emphasized that the cancellation of the European Rabbinical Conference due to antisemitism in Sarajevo, along with the open support of certain structures for Muslim extremist movements, is a warning that no serious person should ignore.
“We will continue to cooperate with our international partners and allies in the fight against all forms of terrorism—because a secure Republika Srpska also means a more secure Europe,” Dodik added.
