Literary evening dedicated to Zoran Kostić held at Banski dvor

A literary evening was held last night at the City Hall of Banski dvor to promote the new issue of Krajina, a journal for literature, culture, and science, dedicated to the work of poet and translator Zoran Kostić.

The event also marked the significant milestone of 60 years of Kostić’s creative work. Speakers at the event included Zoran Arsović, Mirko Vuković, Luka Kecman, and Duško Pevulja, while dramatic artists Jelena Trepetova Kostić and Renata Agostini also took part in the program.

The speakers agreed that Kostić is a national poet with a distinct place within the Serb literary tradition. They emphasized that what particularly drives his poetic inspiration and creative engagement are the fates of the Serb people, historical turning points, and especially national suffering.

The thematic section presented to readers is a kind of reconstruction of Kostić’s literary career — a “review piece” of a biography spanning six decades.

This issue does not include Kostić’s translations and adaptations, as the number of pages would increase exponentially. It is enough to note that he recently published the first volume of the Anthology of Russian Poetry from the 10th to the 21st Century, and the second volume is in preparation. Once both volumes are published, they will contain more than a thousand pages of translations done by the poet himself.
