Poetry collections by Ognjen Kandić presented in Sokolac

Two poetry collections by Ognjen Kandić — At the threshold of reality and The lighthouse of meaning — were presented at the National Library in Sokolac.

Kandić, a senior assistant at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of East Sarajevo, told SRNA that he strives to combine spiritual, patriotic, and love poetry in his collections, and has become known for uniting these three poetic directions.

He noted that as a professor of philosophy, he reflects on himself, the world, God, the past, the present, and the future — and that these two collections are the fruit of such contemplation.

Sasha Knežević, professor at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of East Sarajevo and reviewer of the collections, told SRNA that Kandić was born with a poetic gift, but unlike many who write, he does not rely solely on talent.

Knežević is convinced that the young poet Kandić has the ability to write beautiful love poetry, especially since he is not only skilled at presenting his own poetry but also the works of other poets.

“This means that he lives a truly literary life, and I believe he belongs to a distinguished group of young Serb poets who deserve to be awarded,” Knežević stated.

Dušan Pejić, senior assistant at the Faculty of Philosophy in East Sarajevo, pointed out that although Kandić’s collections are interconnected, the first one leans more toward patriotic poetry.

“The main themes of his patriotic verse are the identity traits of the Serb people — such as migrations, divisions, the current issue of declining birth rates, and emigration,” emphasized Pejić, who also served as the editor of Kandić’s poetry collections.

Ognjen Kandić was born in 1991 in Mostar. He completed his elementary and high school education in Nevesinje and graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in East Sarajevo, where he now works as a senior assistant.

He is the author of two poetry collections and an unpublished novel Traces of freedom, as well as several critical essays and academic papers.
