A concession agreement for the construction of the “Bančići” solar power plant was recently signed between the competent ministry and the director of the company “KH Alter Enerdži.” The plant, valued at around 155 million BAM, will be located approximately ten kilometers from Ljubinje and represents one of the largest investments in the history of this underdeveloped Herzegovinian municipality.
In the area of the village of Bančići, on 138 hectares of uncultivated land, the Ljubinje-based company “KH Alter Enerdži” is expected to begin construction of the solar power plant at the beginning of next year. Its installed capacity will be 102.72 megawatts, and it is estimated to produce about 144.57 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually.
“We have already received preliminary approval from Elektroprenos BiH for grid connection, and now only the procedure remains to finalize the terms of the connection in a contract that will be signed next week,” said Duško Odžaklić, director of KH Alter Enerdži.
This investment will provide a significant new development dimension, primarily contributing to the financial stability of the local community. It is expected to create new jobs and help reduce emigration, especially among the younger population.
“This kind of investment is additional motivation for the people who have stayed here to live and persevere. It gives them reassurance that Ljubinje is not forgotten and provides them with the security to remain and work here,” emphasized Stevo Drapić, mayor of the municipality of Ljubinje.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska, this is the largest investment ever realized in this area, which previously had no significant energy potential or projects in this field.
“I am convinced that the construction of a larger number of energy facilities in Herzegovina will change the image of Herzegovina in the coming years, as well as that of Republika Srpska as a whole, and will bring positive effects to all local communities in the region,” said Petar Đokić, Minister of Energy and Mining of Republika Srpska.
All administrative procedures and project documentation are expected to be completed by the end of the year. The first phase of construction is scheduled to begin at the start of next year, with the grid connection planned immediately after the solar park is built.
