International Street Race “Prnjavor 2025” to Take Place on March 30

The 26th edition of the international street race “Prnjavor 2025” will be held next Sunday, March 30, at 12:00 p.m. on the Trg srpskih boraca (Serb Fighters’ Square).

Organizers promise that the event will once again live up to its reputation as the “queen among street races.”

The Athletics Club “Prnjavor” will host the 26th International Street Race, which holds a five-star quality rating and boasts the most valuable prize fund for a 5,000-meter race in the region.

The entire prize fund has been secured by the event’s general sponsor, the company “Komerc Mali” from Prnjavor. General patrons are the City of Prnjavor and the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports of Republika Srpska.

The Prnjavor race is listed in the calendars of the European and World Athletics Associations, and in recent years has been declared an event of significance for Republika Srpska.

“The starting list is impressive. As you know, every year we try to bring in two to three new runners from Kenya or Ethiopia. This year we have competitors from Romania, the full national teams of Serbia and Croatia, and participants from Austria, Bulgaria, and more. Over 10 countries are registered, with more than 150 runners in the main 5,000-meter race. With the children’s races included, we’ll have more than 1,500 competitors,” said Željko Petrović, president of the Athletics Club “Prnjavor.”

Thanks to the City of Prnjavor, excellent conditions have been created for athletes from around the world to run on what is now called a “carpet track.”

The race route has returned to its traditional course along the main street, through Alekse Šantića and Ilije Malića streets, and back to the square over four laps.

“In recent years, we’ve made an effort to reconstruct the streets where the race takes place. Two years ago, we reconstructed Alekse and Ilije Malića streets, and now Alekse Šantića street has also been completed. What matters most is that the entire course now fully meets the standards for a race of this caliber,” said Prnjavor Mayor Darko Tomaš, expressing confidence that everyone will enjoy the event.

The Athletics Club will have plenty of work, but they are used to it—and always deliver excellent results, said Tomaš.

President of the Prnjavor City Assembly Dražen Mikić noted that the entire city is eagerly awaiting the race and ready to participate.

“Clearly, the mayor and I are ready to run on Sunday, March 30, and I invite all other recreational runners to join us,” said Mikić.

It’s important to note that this year’s race will also have a humanitarian character, with all donations collected going to the association “Neven” Prnjavor.

The race is held in celebration of March 24, the Day of the Municipality of Prnjavor.
