Kesić: Preserving peace is the most important

The most important goal must be the preservation of peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said BiH Ambassador to the EU, Obrad Kesić, during his appearance on the RTRS Morning Program, following his address in the European Parliament.

“BiH is facing its most serious crisis since the end of the war, caused by an unnamed German bureaucrat, Christian Schmidt, who imposed a law that led to the conviction of Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik,” Kesić emphasized.

According to Kešić, the goal was to politically eliminate Dodik and install someone more favorable to Schmidt and certain parts of the international community.

“Everyone must engage in dialogue. BiH cannot be presented as if only the positions coming from Sarajevo represent the state’s stance, while the voices of the entities and constituent peoples remain unheard. I was encouraged to see that not everyone agrees that the crisis stems from a coup or an uprising. It is unacceptable for a foreigner to wield power, impose laws, override the will of voters, and push the country into a very serious crisis,” Kesić stated.

He considers the current crisis in BiH to be the most severe.

“Anyone who claims that the legitimately elected representatives from Republika Srpska, who defend the interests of the Serb people and uphold the authority granted to institutions, are a factor of instability does not have Srpska’s best interests at heart,” Kesić asserted.

This, according to Kesić, only proves that some struggle to accept the Dayton Agreement and international law.

“Problems must be resolved through dialogue. Anyone who claims to defend BiH’s sovereignty while calling for foreign intervention or supporting Schmidt’s decisions is not being honest. They seek to impose a unitarist, centralized BiH that would dismantle Dayton. There is no way out of this crisis unless we open discussions and reject the idea that a single foreigner can have absolute power in BiH,” Kesić concluded.
