Jović extends Sloga’s winning streak

Sloga’s footballers secured a 1-0 home victory over Radnik Bijeljina in the 21st round of the BiH Premier League. This marks the Doboj team’s sixth win in their last seven matches, with one draw.

The winning goal was scored by Toni Jović from the penalty spot in the 57th minute. Former Sloga player Srđan Grabž handled the ball, but referee Mateo Musa only pointed to the spot after consulting the VAR room and reviewing the incident.

In the first half, Radnik had the first chance in the seventh minute when Nemanja Anđušić fired from around 20 meters, but Sloga goalkeeper Filip Erić made a comfortable save. Three minutes later, Radnik’s keeper Nikola Lakić easily stopped a shot from Toni Jović, who struck from a difficult position. The best chance of the half came in the 37th minute when a shot from Josip Kvesić hit the post, saving Radnik. Luck was on Lakić’s side, as the ball bounced off the post and deflected off him for a corner.

“It was a tough match to watch, tough to manage, tough conditions… Everything was difficult, and so were we on the pitch. There wasn’t much quality—it was just a matter of who would make the first crucial mistake. They did, we capitalized, and that’s it,” said Sloga coach Nedim Jusufbegović.

His counterpart, Velibor Đurić, was disappointed with the loss.

“In a match between two evenly matched teams, unfortunately, VAR made the difference. I won’t comment further. I’m upset that in such a calm game, two of our players received unnecessary yellow cards,” Đurić added.
