President of Srpska: If Schmidt changes the Constitution regarding quorum, Srpska will respond

President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, stated that if Christian Schmidt decides to amend the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the section regarding the number of Serb delegates required for a quorum in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Srpska will issue a response the same day that many around the world will understand.

“I see that some in Republika Srpska are hoping for a change in the Constitution, suggesting that the quorum in the House of Peoples should be two delegates instead of three and that Schmidt should implement this. If he does, he will receive our response the same day, a response that many will understand worldwide,” Dodik told reporters in Drakulić near Banja Luka.

The President of Srpska pointed out that global circumstances have changed.

“Those in the opposition who are trying to portray themselves as nationalists are actually traitors to the Serb people. Are they sincere now, or when they go to Sarajevo? Are they telling the truth here, or when they speak in Sarajevo?” asked Dodik, who is also the leader of SNSD.

He emphasized that SNSD is fighting for Srpska’s position at the BiH level and working to uphold the Dayton Agreement and the Constitution of BiH.

Dodik noted that opposition delegates in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH have portrayed themselves as the saviors of BiH by voting for two European laws, instead of remaining neutral as they had previously agreed with SNSD.

“If you are the saviors of BiH, then you are the gravediggers of Republika Srpska,” Dodik declared.

He assessed that the European path for BiH, as it currently stands, is a deception aimed at dismantling the essence of Republika Srpska.

“We must be extremely cautious about this issue,” Dodik stated.

The President of Srpska argued that the so-called European path is just an empty slogan, like many others in history, that means nothing.

“The only correct policy here is to defend our rights, preserve our position, and build our community within our state—Republika Srpska,” Dodik said.

He added that SNSD never sought to be in power at the BiH level, calling it a burden.

“Anyone who does not understand that going to Sarajevo and defending Srpska’s interests is a burden is politically naive. If they go there for privileges, it becomes even more dangerous for us,” concluded Dodik.
