The “Winter Days on Kozara” festival kicks off with a mountain march

The 18th economic and tourism event “Winter Days on Kozara” has begun with a mountain march. The central event will take place tomorrow, featuring sports competitions among teams from various cities and municipalities, as well as a gastro competition with the participation of hunting associations, hospitality and economics schools, hunters, and scouts.

A hundred participants in the traditional mountain march covered a six-kilometer trail, enjoying nature and pleasant weather across all generations.

“We joined for fun, we want to spend as much time as possible outdoors, without phones, and so far, we are doing well,” said Marija Pavić.

In honor of “Winter Days on Kozara,” the Prijedor-based Extreme Sports Club “Albatros,” in cooperation with the Mountaineering Society “Klekovača,” organized the mountain march for the 16th time.

“The trail is quite simple, about six kilometers long. There is a slight incline at the beginning, but it flattens out later, making it technically undemanding. Both younger and older participants can manage it,” said Milovan Polovina from the Extreme Sports Club “Albatros” in Prijedor.

Dragan Romčević from the Mountaineering Society “Klekovača” in Prijedor emphasized his deep connection to Kozara.

“For Klekovača, as a mountaineering society, Kozara is our home mountain. We have a lodge here in Kotlovača on Kozara, and we always return to it. Despite visiting other destinations and mountains, Kozara remains our most frequent and beloved spot,” said Romčević.

The “Winter Days on Kozara” festival concludes tomorrow at the plateau near the monument in Mrakovica. The event will feature a cultural-entertainment program, as well as sports and recreational competitions involving teams from ten municipalities and cities.
