Republika Srpska pays tribute to Holocaust victims

This year, Republika Srpska once again honors the victims of the Holocaust. A projection was displayed on the Palace of the Republic to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Against a dark background, the number representing 6,000,000 Jewish victims of the Holocaust was prominently displayed, accompanied by the message “We Remember” (#WeRemember).

#WeRemember is a global campaign initiated by the World Jewish Congress, commemorated for years in major cities worldwide.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day was observed this evening in Banja Luka with a memorial academy at the Jewish Cultural Center “Arie Livne.”

The United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on November 1, 2005, to establish International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The date chosen, January 27, commemorates the liberation of Auschwitz, the largest Nazi concentration camp, by Soviet forces in 1945, honoring the millions of victims of the Holocaust during World War II.
