Višković: We will demand that March 1 be declared a day of mourning in Srpska

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been “expeditious” in opening a case regarding the celebration of the Day of Republika Srpska, said the Prime Minister of Srpska, Radovan Višković, during his speech at the ceremonial academy in Brčko marking the celebration of the Republic Day. He announced that he would advocate for March 1 to be declared a day of mourning in Srpska.

Prime Minister Višković questioned those who object to January 9 as the Day of Republika Srpska, a date established peacefully 33 years ago, asking, “What happened on March 1 in Sarajevo at Baščaršija?”

He reminded them that it was on that date that the first Serb victim, Nikola Gardović, a Serb wedding guest, was killed, and a priest was wounded.

Višković also recalled that the first victims during the recent Defense-Fatherland War were Serbs in Sijekovac.

For this reason, he stated, those who argue that January 9 should be a day of mourning and propose to impose this decision across the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina do not understand the Constitution.

Višković added that the concept of “one citizen, one vote” is a deception and that it led, unfortunately, to the war conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The problem in BiH arose on October 14 and 15, 1991, when representatives of the Bosniak and Croat peoples, even during a parliamentary session break and without the presence of the parliamentary president, adopted their own declaration on the sovereignty of BiH,” Višković reminded.

He emphasized that it would not surprise him if everyone here receives a summons from the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

“A summons has already arrived in Banja Luka as of yesterday. A case has been opened in the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH. They are so ‘expeditious’ that they requested information to be provided by the end of the workday,” Višković noted.

He concluded by stating that Republika Srpska is eternal.

“Srpska lives in our hearts,” Višković declared.
