The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, emphasized that Srpska represents the freedom of the Serb people and stands as a pledge for the future.
- Republika Srpska is our sanctuary and our pledge for the future. It is a reflection of the freedom of the Serb people to live in peace together with other nations – Dodik wrote on the social network X, accompanied by a video dedicated to celebrating Republika Srpska Day.
This year, Srpska will celebrate January 9—Republika Srpska Day—and 33 years of existence under the slogan “Born for Eternity.”
Republika Srpska was established on January 9, 1992, initially under the name the Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It was founded by Serb deputies in the then Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina after they were outvoted on key issues regarding the survival of Yugoslavia. Meanwhile, representatives of the other two ethnic groups moved toward secession against the will of Serbs, who had the status of a constituent people.
