All domestic actors on the political scene under the “Dayton sky” of BiH, if they act responsibly, decisively, and are ready for dialogue, will have the opportunity for a better tomorrow. However, should they choose subservience to various political “Marfies,” it is clear that this path leads to constitutional, social, and political ruin, marking the end of Dayton BiH, emphasized Sanja Vulić, head of the SNSD caucus in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.
On the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the initial signing of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, Vulić stated to Srna that the Dayton Agreement ended the tragic conflict in BiH and remains one of the most significant peace agreements in history.
Despite this, Vulić added, the day is not celebrated in both entities because the Dayton Agreement has never been fully accepted in FBiH, where an imaginary version of BiH is upheld instead of the Dayton one.
“Moreover, instead of respecting the text of the agreement, in the other entity, with the support of foreigners, the ‘spirit’ of Dayton is revered, a concept that emerged from the moment it was signed. The best example of how BiH institutions view this significant document is the fact that they have ‘lost’ or removed the original copy,” Vulić pointed out.
She stated that the extent to which the original General Framework Agreement has been undermined is best illustrated by the absurd decisions of previous high representatives. The efforts to dismantle it are most evident in the arbitrary actions of the tourist Christian Schmidt in BiH, along with his partner in political decision-making, Michael Murphy.
“The arbitrariness of these individuals has put the Serb people in great danger. The Serb people are being stripped of fundamental rights defined by the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH, including the right to choose, the right to free and democratic elections, the right to a stance and decision-making, and the right to have a legitimately elected president,” Vulić stated.
She stressed that the endangerment of any people is dangerous, unconstitutional, and long-term catastrophic.
“Dayton BiH is the only viable option; all other formats and attempts signify the end of BiH. Dayton BiH, where Serbs, Croats, and Bosniaks have equal rights, has a chance for survival. Dayton BiH, with two entities and three constituent peoples, defines all rights regarding territorial ownership and property, as well as the right to transparent and democratic decision-making. Only in this form is BiH feasible. Everything else is doomed to fail!” Vulić concluded.
