Teenager who killed policeman eft a note, shouted “May Allah punish You All” While being handcuffed

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina imposed restrictions on Muharem Bajrić, Hajrudin Šabić, Dževdet Mujović, Rijad Nahić, and Muhamed Delalić on suspicion of committing terrorism and recruitment for terrorist activities.

They are connected to the terrorist attack in Bosanska Krupa, where a 14-year-old stabbed and killed one policeman and seriously wounded another. The Prosecutor’s Office’s request was fully accepted by the Court of BiH.

Raport reviewed the explanation by which the Court of BiH accepted the Prosecutor’s Office’s proposal for restrictions on Bajrić, Šabić, Mujović, Delalić, and Nahić, and from that document, details of how the minor, E.S., attacked the police officers, killing one and injuring another. It also reveals that the boy attended a sort of unregistered religious center (parajamaat) in Bosanska Krupa.

According to the document, E.S. left a note found in his family home, though the contents were not disclosed in the explanation.

The Prosecutor’s Office of BiH claims that Bajrić, Šabić, and Mujović, as members of the so-called Wahhabi community, formed an Association for the Affirmation of Positive Values in Bosanska Krupa, named Stepeni, which operated out of a house and included a Qur’an school attended by E.S.

Both the school and association operated outside official Islamic institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mujović is known as a follower of Yusuf Barčić, a radical leader in BiH who passed away in 2007.

The trio allegedly secured financial means for the association’s activities, with Nuhić’s assistance.

The Prosecutor’s Office asserts that the Stepeni association propagated Islamic radicalism and that professors Hakija Kanurić and Muharem Bajrić conducted lectures that allegedly incited criminal acts for terrorist activities.

According to the Court of BiH document, Muhamed Delalić allegedly influenced E.S. to join the lectures, and E.S. was motivated to carry out a terrorist act, attacking the police station and its officers, based on what he learned.

The document reveals that E.S. wrote a note, left in his home, before the attack. The message’s contents were not specified.

The document explains that E.S. entered the Bosanska Krupa police station armed with a large, serrated knife he purchased.

Upon entering, he was first spotted by police officer Avdo Hasanović, who stepped out of the duty room and attempted to address the boy.

E.S. immediately stabbed Hasanović in the abdomen and head. Hasanović called for help from officer Ozren Maran, asking him to use his baton to prevent further attack.

When Maran approached to defend his colleague, E.S. stabbed him in the chest, causing Maran’s death at the Kantonal Hospital “Dr. Irfan Ljubijankić.”

Other officers quickly intervened, and as they handcuffed him, E.S. reportedly shouted, “May Allah punish you all, who among you performed the dawn prayer.”

In custody, E.S. allegedly said, “My name is S**** (stating his surname), I did this in the name of Allah, because Bosnia supports Israel, which kills Muslims in Palestine.”

The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that E.S. communicated with a schoolmate, stating his motivation as “supporting Zionists, killing innocent Muslims, and the death of Sheikh Yusuf Barčić.”

The boy’s mother noted changes in his behavior after he began attending Qur’an school in September in Bosanska Krupa, saying he was a model student but later spent more time on social media and changed in behavior and religious practice, uncommon for their family.

A police report from October 25, 2024, reveals that during religious classes, E.S. inquired about Yusuf Barčić, which led his religion teacher to suspect alignment with “Tekfirist” sect beliefs.

A friend of E.S. shared that the boy, previously known for visiting betting shops and drinking, turned to religion and frequented the premises behind the Social Welfare Center, identified as the location of the Stepeni school.

Further, SIPA reported on October 28, 2024, that Dževdet Mujović is a known radical Wahhabi who follows the teachings of Yusuf Barčić.

The Prosecutor’s Office seized phones, computers, and significant cash in different currencies from the suspects.

In total, around 140,000 KM was found. A financial investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office will determine their income sources.

Stepeni reportedly has ties with another Sarajevo association, with an account at Raiffeisen Bank, possibly funding property purchases across BiH.
