Political Sarajevo would write history according to its own standards

The President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, states that political Sarajevo would write history according to its own standards, claiming that Alija Izetbegović was a peacemaker while the entire Serb leadership were criminals.

“If they hadn’t announced that gathering as pro-Bosnian forces, I would have gone to that event myself. You have data that 156,000 Serbs were missing in Sarajevo during Alija’s rule. The same goes for Srebrenica. Let them write whatever they want and wish; I just feel sorry for the Serbian children who are forced to learn this history in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Dodik.

Dodik describes Izetbegović as an “unconvicted war criminal,” noting that this was also stated by the prosecutor of the Hague Tribunal, Carla Del Ponte.

“Izetbegović’s death prevented him from going to trial. In the Federation, they want to suppress this. They want to declare their war criminals heroes. Not just for their people, but for all nations. Alija Izetbegović said he would sacrifice peace for the independence of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and you can see where that has led. When we say this, they impose sanctions on us,” Dodik pointed out.

He added that any reasonable person understands why the Serb people cannot and will not live with those who promote the policy of evil that Izetbegović spread and that they still uphold today.

Dodik states that Izetbegović can only be the “father of the nation” for Muslims.

“He has failed in everything except for dividing Bosnia and Herzegovina, and then trying to be a unifier. Christian Schmidt has imposed himself on Republika Srpska and has now offended their pride as well. This is a false framework in which they want to make him a saint. Izetbegović was also a member of the Handžar Division during World War II, thus a criminal at that time. Later, in Yugoslavia, he served time for the radical stance of ‘young Muslims.’ In the Federation, they still promote that ideology, regardless of whether they belong to the SDP, SDA, or the Party for BiH. They try various tricks to gain something,” Dodik notes.

He adds that where their directors are in common institutions, they attempt to steal powers from the entities and transfer them to the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“I must say there is no difference between what Bisera Turković did and what Dino Konaković is doing now. This is the ideology of ‘all my criminals are heroes,’ while they talk about how Karadžić and Mladić are convicted war criminals. These are facts, but historically, it is a fact that Izetbegović was the leader of the Muslim people, and Karadžić was the leader of the Serb people during the war,” explains Dodik.
