President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik met in East Sarajevo with the Ambassador of Israel to BiH, Galit Peleg.
“The occasion is sad, but it is a great honor for Republika Srpska, where a commemoration is held for the killed, wounded, and captured Jews in the Hamas attack on October 7 of last year. Through this act, Peleg reciprocates the understanding, condolences, and empathy of the Serb people during these sad and difficult days for the institutions and people of the State of Israel. Our support is directed towards you,” emphasized Dodik on the social media platform “X.”
Dodik added that he and Peleg also discussed the current political situation in Republika Srpska and BiH, as well as the enhancement of economic cooperation.
“There was also discussion about the situation in the Middle East,” he added.
At the National Theatre in East Sarajevo, a reception was held organized by the Embassy of Israel for BiH, to commemorate the anniversary of the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023.
A documentary film titled “Screams Before Silence” was screened, along with a photo exhibition dedicated to the victims of the attack, in which 1,205 people were killed, mostly civilians.
The embassy stated that the reception was organized in East Sarajevo after it was canceled in federal Sarajevo.
We remind that the mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, also supported the ban on holding the commemoration in Sarajevo.
