Staša Košarac, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers, stated that all activities conducted by Republika Srpska and Serbian institutions, including police cooperation, are in accordance with the Constitution and contribute to peace and stability in the region.
Commenting on today’s announcement by Elmedin Konaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Council of Ministers, that he will initiate the annulment of the Agreement on Police Cooperation between the Council of Ministers and the Government of Serbia, Košarac emphasized that ministers from Republika Srpska will never support this.
“This is sheer nonsense. I don’t understand why anyone would think that sovereignty is lost if there are serious forms of regional cooperation, especially if it is resolved normatively and constitutionally, as it is,” said Košarac.
He believes this is part of the Bosniak political structure’s need to quickly secure good positions before the local elections, highlighting the serious conflict between the SDA and the ‘trojka’ parties.
“OK, let them fight politically in Sarajevo and the Federation of BiH however they want, but it is important that all activities conducted by Republika Srpska and Serbian institutions are in accordance with the Constitution and primarily contribute to peace and stability in the region and good regional cooperation,” said Košarac.
Expressing surprise that anyone would object to cooperation with Serbia, and even Croatia, Košarac noted that the behavior of Bosniak politicians in this regard is becoming neurotic.
“I don’t see how any decision can be made in the Council of Ministers without the positions of the ministers from Republika Srpska being taken into account, and our position is clear – we will not support this initiative,” Košarac emphasized, adding that certain politicians need to understand the need for cooperation with Serbia, which is a regional leader.
Noting that it would be good if there were also calls from BiH for such regional cooperation, Košarac, who is also the Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, called Konaković’s assessment that BiH lost its sovereignty due to police cooperation agreements with Serbia and Croatia political dilettantism.
“BiH hasn’t lost its sovereignty because it doesn’t have it, as a structure from the Federation of BiH primarily implements the wishes of foreigners,” stressed Košarac.
He also considered Konaković’s statement that he would prefer BiH to join NATO before the EU absurd.
Reminding that BiH cannot join NATO without the consent of Republika Srpska, Košarac emphasized that this consent will never be given because NATO bombed Srpska and killed its people.
“As things stand, BiH will neither become a member of NATO nor the EU precisely because the processes in BiH are not created by domestic politicians but by foreigners to whom Sarajevo’s politicians have handed over political sovereignty,” concluded Košarac.
Konaković announced today at a press conference in Sarajevo that he will initiate the annulment of the police cooperation agreement between BiH and Serbia at the Council of Ministers session on July 31 and will ask the Council of Ministers, as a signatory, to vote on this.
