A ceremonial academy was held at the National Theater of the Republika Srpska in Banja Luka to mark Russia Day. The event was attended by the Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor Kalabukhov, ministers of the Government of the Republika Srpska, and numerous officials.
The Russian Federation Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor Kalabukhov, stated that the celebration of Russia Day worldwide, including in Banja Luka, is a symbolic date that allows Russian citizens and others to feel like Russians.
“Today, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, proposed a peace plan for resolving the Ukrainian crisis, and we hope it will be accepted,” said Kalabukhov.
The academy was organized by the Association of Russians in the Republika Srpska “Romanovs.”
The president of the association, Igor Kotjelnikov, expressed pride that Banja Luka is the westernmost point in the world where Russia Day is celebrated.
“We will work to further enhance cooperation, and the Association of Russians organizes free courses in collaboration with the Russian Cultural Center ‘Russian World in Banja Luka,'” emphasized Kotjelnikov.
The academy was attended by guests from the public, political, diplomatic, religious, and social life of Banja Luka, Srpska, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Advisor to the President of the Republika Srpska, Marko Romić, reminded that the Office of the Embassy of the Russian Federation has been opened in Banja Luka, which means that Srpska has gained a piece of Russian territory on its soil, in accordance with the international law principle that embassy territory is considered the territory of the country it represents.
Russia Day is celebrated annually on June 12th since 1992 in honor of the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic on June 12th, 1990.
