Mastilović: The intention behind the Srebrenica resolution is to serve as a tool for the destruction of Republika Srpska

The intent behind the Srebrenica resolution is to serve directly as a tool for the destruction of Republika Srpska and to exert additional pressure on Serbia, stated Draga Mastilović, Director of the Institute of Historical Sciences at the University of East Sarajevo.

Mastilović warned that “only the naive can think that the attempt to pass the Srebrenica resolution is not aimed at stigmatizing the entire Serbian people and that Serbian science should begin preparing a resolution on the genocide against the Serb people in the Independent State of Croatia (NDH).”

  • “I sincerely hope that most countries will not support this resolution, that they understand what it is about and will recognize the intentions of the sponsors and proponents of this resolution,” emphasized Mastilović.

According to him, regardless of whether the resolution is adopted or not, it is necessary for Serbian science and diplomacy to begin preparing a resolution on the genocide against the Serbian people committed by Croats and Muslims during World War II.

  • “When we talk about the genocide against Serbs, we constantly use the term ‘Ustashas.’ Were there really that many Ustashas? That would mean there was an entire army of Ustashas. It was a genocidal plan to completely exterminate the Serbs west of the Drina. Genocide was committed across the entire territory of the NDH,” noted Mastilović.

Mastilović said that the international festival “Days of Russia in Republika Srpska” is also an opportunity to scientifically delve into the events of the 1990s.

  • “It has become clear that some socio-political processes that occurred in the post-Yugoslav and post-Soviet spaces are simply identical. Recently, there has been a scientific effort to identify the factors in Europe that generated and managed the Yugoslav crisis,” said Mastilović.

He assessed that the same approach is recognized in both the post-Yugoslav and post-Soviet spaces.

  • “It is very good that our colleagues in Russia have understood this type of identical processes that are directed against both the Serb and Russian peoples. Only in this way can we scientifically provide answers and future directions for the movement of the Russian and Serbian peoples,” concluded Mastilović.
