Players of the Basketball Club for Disabled Vrbas will have plenty of challenges in the current month. Already on Sunday, May 12th, they will play their final match in the Premier League of BiH against Bosna from Zenica, when the promotion of their tenth jubilee and consecutive title will take place.
This league match will be held at the Obilićevo Sports Hall in Banja Luka, starting at 13:30. Banja Luka’s team will use this duel to prepare for future challenges.
“The result is secondary, as we secured the title earlier, but I am convinced that this time too we will finish the season undefeated. We’ve almost reached the first star, and I must emphasize that I am extremely proud of all my players, with captain Biljana Nedić at the helm. I want to congratulate them on showing that they are indeed the best on the field,” said Marinko Umičević, president of this trophy-winning sports collective.
Six days later, on May 18th, in Ljubljana, the players of KK Vrbas will face the finals of the NLB League against the always challenging KIK Zmaj. This will be a rematch of last year’s final, where the players from Gradačac had more luck, but the Banja Luka team believes they will be the ones celebrating this time.
“We sincerely hope that this time we will win, and that we will grab this trophy for the eighth time. That would be a great achievement for us and the best way to crown the season. We are all full of optimism and expect this to be one of our most successful seasons since the club’s inception,” emphasizes Umičević.
As a cherry on top of the current season, which is coming to an end, there should be a trip to distant Russia.
“We have been invited by the President of the Russian Basketball Federation, Andrei Kirilenko, to participate in a strong tournament in Kazan, where our fraternal club Krila Barsa would host us. We have the support of Prime Minister Radovan Višković, and these days we expect official assistance from the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and the Mayor of Banja Luka Draško Stanivuković. The trip is still uncertain, but we sincerely hope to set off for Kazan on May 26th,” concluded Marinko Umičević.
