Christian Schmidt and American sanctions are entering the security sphere and becoming a security problem for Republika Srpska, stated Minister of Internal Affairs, Siniša Karan.
He emphasized that American sanctions represent a force undermining international law.
“This is about an attack of force, not only in terms of sanctions but also in the application of the Dayton Agreement,” Karan mentioned.
He says that the biggest sanction against Republika Srpska is Christian Schmidt.
“He is closing everything for us. He is denying citizens the right to decide in a representative democracy. Imagine if we asked citizens in elections whether Schmidt should make decisions for us. It’s an incredible absurdity,” Karan clarified.
He explained what the sanctions actually mean.
“It means, we will punish all those who do not allow a unitary BiH. We will punish those who protect the Dayton Agreement, we will punish all those who do not allow this to be a country of just one people. And we will punish all those who want their voices to be heard in the joint institutions of BiH,” Karan stated.
He highlighted that the sanctions are an attack on Republika Srpska and its institutions.
“Attacks are made on ministers, the President of Republika, the Prime Minister, the President of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, and the Serb member of the BiH Presidency. Someone even said, when you attack institutions, it can be considered terrorism,” says Karan.
He reminded that the criminal act of terrorism contains two components – ideological and political, and an attack on institutions to make them act or refrain from acting.
“This could be a kind of atypical, but possible terrorist act against Republika Srpska,” Karan concluded.
