Republika Srpska, under the leadership of President Milorad Dodik, has shown that it can function as a “de facto” independent international actor and is regarded as such, stated the distinguished American analyst and former diplomat James Jatras.
He mentioned that the recent international visits by the President of Srpska and meetings with top regional partners are a significant turning point in strengthening the status of Republika Srpska on the international scene.
“Although not yet recognized as a sovereign state, Srpska under President Dodik’s leadership increasingly demonstrates the ability to function as a ‘de facto’ independent international actor and is perceived as such by others, especially important regional countries like Russia, Belarus, Turkey, and Hungary,” Jatras emphasized.
According to him, Dodik’s international visits represent another manifestation of the wise and carefully calibrated engagement policy of the President of Srpska in light of the growing sense that the “unipolar” global order imposed by the US, NATO, and the EU during the 1990s is crumbling and being replaced by a multipolar order based on international respect and mutually beneficial cooperation.
“The continuation of this steady course will surely bring excellent results in the future for the people of Republika Srpska,” Jatras stressed.
JATRAS IN BANJA LUKA ON MARCH 13
James Jatras will visit Banja Luka on Wednesday, March 13, to receive the Order of Njegoš of the Second Class, awarded by the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, on the occasion of Republika Srpska Day – January 9.
Jatras recalled being unable to attend the ceremony on January 9, and will take the opportunity to receive the award during his one-day visit to Banja Luka next week.
The former American diplomat said on January 12 that he was very honored and touched by the award, accepting it proudly and with gratitude, and found it inspiring as an Orthodox Christian and American patriot that President Dodik and the Government of Republika Srpska are bravely resisting the illegal dictate of the so-called international rules-based order.
Jatras expressed hope that “Dodik’s example will encourage other national leaders to move away from the globalist agenda and to be guided by the real interests of their people.”
After President Srpska awarded Jatras, the former American diplomat stated he likes to think that he has “in some small way” contributed to such a trend, both in Srpska and in other parts of the world, expressing hope that America, in the end, might elect a genuine national government.
“Insofar as this recognition reflects such a contribution of mine, I accept it with pride and gratitude,” Jatras conveyed.
Jatras holds a Doctor of Law degree from Georgetown University, and in December, he participated in the International Conference “Republika Srpska: Respect for Sovereignty and the Dayton Agreement” in Banja Luka.
He also visited Banja Luka in November 2022, where he gave a lecture at the Faculty of Political Sciences on the topic “Geopolitical Consequences of the Conflict in Ukraine.”
