“Political analyst Dragomir Anđelković assessed that the example of the Dayton Agreement shows that the West hasn’t evolved from its colonial past. Western powers treat Bosnia and Herzegovina as a European colony resembling what existed in the 19th century in Africa and Asia.
Regarding the scope of the Dayton Agreement signed on December 14, 1995, in Paris, Anđelković pointed out that essentially nothing has changed in BiH even 28 years after that event because the West envisioned Bosnia and Herzegovina as a colony. Dayton is merely a curtain for implementing colonial policies.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina resembles British colonies in the Indian subcontinent in the 19th century, where there were formally independent states, yet the British occupational authority held power above them, deciding on everything. Today’s Bosnia and Herzegovina is like Britain and India in the 19th century or Britain and Egypt in the first half of the 20th century, where there’s a facade of statehood, yet it’s fundamentally an occupation,” stated Anđelković.
He highlighted that the Serb people and Republika Srpska have disrupted these Western plans, causing constant resistance that significantly undermines their occupation, resulting in the West only partially achieving its goals.
Anđelković believes there’s no doubt that Western powers impose colonial policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, staying within the 19th-century framework. Their narrative of equality among countries, democracy, respect for the rule of law, and international law only applies to selected ones.
“When Euro-Atlantic member countries interact among themselves, they respect those values. When they adhere to the law, it’s their law. However, when they engage with other nations outside this circle, they act colonially, disregarding any agreement,” explained Anđelković.
In his assessment, everything the West speaks about is a deception.
“They accepted Dayton not for peace but to deceive the Serbs. As they couldn’t defeat the Serbs militarily, they aimed to marginalize and pacify them by imposing everything Sarajevo’s hegemonists fought for during the war, and the West supported them,” he said.
Anđelković mentioned that 28 years since Dayton is 28 years of violating international agreements by the West and Sarajevo, attempting to impose a unitary Bosnia and Herzegovina where Muslims would dominate.
“It’s a peace-related continuation of aggression, and the agreement is just a facade. What’s happening with Dayton doesn’t serve credit to the West. Yet, looking at their past, the West didn’t have much honor,” he emphasized.”
