Films serve as valuable records of the times in which they are created, reflecting the people, events and values of a society. Preserving this cinematic heritage while creating opportunities for new domestic productions is therefore essential, the Republika Srpska Audiovisual Center emphasized.
Marking World Day for Audiovisual Heritage on October 27, the Center extended its congratulations to filmmakers and industry professionals whose work contributes to the development of cinema and audiovisual production in Republika Srpska.
The institution expressed pride in its achievements and completed projects, highlighting their contribution to the continuity of filmmaking and the growing visibility of domestic cinema.
Supporting the development of domestic film production
“The Republika Srpska Audiovisual Center supports the development of domestic audiovisual production through public calls for proposals, providing filmmakers and producers with opportunities to develop and implement their projects,” the Center stated.
The institution encouraged filmmakers and producers to continue developing creative ideas and submitting their projects through public funding competitions.
According to the Center, these initiatives are intended to support the creation of new films and contribute to the further development of Republika Srpska’s audiovisual sector.
Film as an essential part of collective memory
The Center emphasized that World Day for Audiovisual Heritage provides an important opportunity to recognize the cultural and historical significance of cinema.
“World Day for Audiovisual Heritage is an opportunity to remind ourselves that film is not merely a work of art, but also part of our collective memory — a testimony to the people, events and times that we leave to future generations,” the Center stated.
By preserving existing cinematic works and supporting new productions, the institution aims to ensure that Republika Srpska’s audiovisual heritage continues to develop and remains accessible to future generations.
