Deputy Chair of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac stressed that the vile inscription written on the Serb tricolor in Istočno Sarajevo was not merely an act of vandalism, but a primitive and shameful attempt to humiliate the Serb people, and called on the competent authorities to identify and sanction the perpetrators, saying that Serbs would not accept collective stigmatization.
Košarac told SRNA that the heinous act offended the dignity of Serbs and desecrated symbols representing Serb national identity, history and freedom.
He warned that the shameful act constituted an attempt to stigmatize the Serb people collectively and an unacceptable provocation that deserved the strongest public condemnation and a decisive response from the competent institutions.
“When someone writes a word of hatred on the Serb tricolor, they are not merely defacing a mural – they are demonstrating profound disrespect for a people, its history, its victims and its right to preserve its national identity freely and with pride,” Košarac stressed.
Košarac emphasized that he demanded the competent institutions identify the perpetrators without delay, establish all the circumstances and take the measures prescribed by law.
“The message must be clear – Serbs will not accept collective stigmatization, humiliation or double standards!” Košarac declared.
According to him, anyone who thinks they can humiliate the Serb people with insults and derogatory inscriptions must understand that Serbs have the right to their name, symbols, history and dignity, and that they will not relinquish that right.
An offensive inscription reading “genocidaires” appeared on a mural of the Serb tricolor in Istočno Novo Sarajevo.
