The negotiations with the European Union have stalled because an agreement could not be reached, partly due to the EU’s approach but primarily because of Sarajevo’s attempts to control the entire process, Serb member of the BiH Presidency Željka Cvijanović said.
“Colleagues from Sarajevo wanted to exclude matters that fall under the jurisdiction of Republika Srpska, impose their own will and claim that they alone are responsible for the European path. No one can say when negotiations with the EU might resume, but the current standstill is evident,” Cvijanović said.
She added that none of the political parties are currently presenting concrete proposals on what should be done regarding the European integration process or identifying it as a priority in the political platforms they are offering to voters.
According to Cvijanović, the issue is not being presented as one of the priorities, or even as an issue that political parties are actively addressing.
