Milanka Blagojević, acting director of the Šamac Cultural Center, announced that she will present the Milica Babić Andrić Memorial House at an international conference in Bled, Slovenia, scheduled to take place from September 30 to October 3.
The Memorial House has been nominated for this year’s prestigious Živa Award.
Blagojević explained that the award is presented by the Forum of Slavic Cultures, established in 2004 at the initiative of the Slovenian government. It recognizes museums, memorial institutions, and other organizations dedicated to preserving and presenting cultural and natural heritage in contemporary ways.
She noted that she will be the only representative of Republika Srpska at the conference in Slovenia, adding that the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska is a member of the Forum.
“The Živa Award particularly recognizes the quality of exhibitions, innovation, accessibility of content, communication with audiences, connections with the local community, and contributions to culture and society,” Blagojević told SRNA.
She emphasized that the nomination represents significant recognition of the work carried out by the Šamac Cultural Center and confirms that Šamac’s cultural heritage extends beyond the local community.
Blagojević said the conference will bring together museum experts, curators, institution directors, and professionals in the fields of culture and museology from numerous European countries.
“It will be an opportunity to exchange experiences, present examples of good practice, and establish connections with international institutions. This is an important moment for Šamac and Republika Srpska, as our Memorial House will be presented before an international expert jury and an audience from the fields of museology, culture, and heritage protection,” Blagojević said.
