Vučić: We will bury our people with dignity, we don’t care what Marta Kos or anyone else says

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today in Prigrevica near Apatin that Serbia would bury its people in a manner befitting them and preserve the dignity of its citizens.

“We will preserve the dignity of our people, we will preserve the dignity of our citizens. I don’t care what Marta Kos or anyone else says when I have the people, when I have Prigrevica and the citizens of Serbia behind me,” Vučić said.

Addressing residents of Prigrevica, many of whom are descendants of people who moved there from Lika, Banija and Kordun or arrived during the wars of the 1990s, Vučić said the banner welcoming him with the words “Serbia is our one and only motherland” represented a truth for which everyone should be grateful.

During a visit to a memorial room in the town, Vučić said that Prigrevica and the people who live there today are “living proof that all attempts to destroy us have failed.”

He recalled that in those regions, particularly in Bosanska Krajina, there were no military recruits for years after the war, while women wore mourning clothes for decades.

Vučić said some people in Serbia would like the country to forget its people’s past, but stressed that this would not happen. He also said Serbia would never consider the use of the “Za dom spremni” salute or the display in Croatia of flags featuring a checkerboard beginning with a white field to be normal.

“For our country, that is not normal, but those who want to change the government would organize tourist trips to Thompson’s concert,” Vučić said.

He also expressed deep disappointment over videos circulating on social media showing primary school pupils in Serbia tearing up school materials featuring Expo motifs that they had received.

Vučić described the incidents as a consequence of what he called a “color revolution” being waged against the state, as well as a lack of proper upbringing at home.
