Minić: Attackers of Serb returnees must be arrested and punished

Republika Srpska Minister Savo Minić condemned the attack on Serb returnees near Sanski Most, saying he expects law enforcement agencies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to identify and prosecute those responsible, while Republika Srpska will also seek action through its own police institutions.

“I expect the police agencies in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and certainly Republika Srpska through its own police agencies, to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and punished in the strongest possible manner,” Minić said.

Speaking in Modriča, where he attended the “Skugrić Assembly” event, Minić questioned how, decades after the war, returnees continue to face division and insecurity.

“Is it really possible that after all these years we are still dividing people into different categories of returnees while at the same time talking about wanting to live together? This is the product of hatred that, unfortunately, still exists among the people,” he said.

He added that, at the same time, there are repeated claims that coexistence is functioning well.

“They keep telling us that everything is fine because we live together. Yet now we are talking about Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the problems people face there. What do you think would happen if we all lived under one system? To whom would we turn for protection? Who would protect us except the police of Republika Srpska?” Minić said.

He concluded by saying that Republika Srpska has its own institutions, strength and stability, adding that everyone is welcome there.
