Košarac: Konaković and the “Troika” are shifting responsibility for the MONEYVAL grey list onto Republika Srpska

Elmedin Konaković and other members of the “Troika,” by claiming that SNSD is responsible for Bosnia and Herzegovina being placed on the MONEYVAL grey list, are attempting to shift responsibility for the dysfunction of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina onto Republika Srpska and the level of the joint institutions, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers Staša Košarac told SRNA.

“Due to a chronic lack of their own political achievements, Konaković and the rest of the ‘Troika’ are trying to attract the attention of an increasingly shrinking electorate by attacking SNSD,” Košarac said.

He stated that they had wasted their mandate trying to harm Republika Srpska, which they failed to do and never will, because SNSD is a hard nut to crack for the “Troika”.

“But what surprised me once again is their readiness to lie the moment they open their mouths. Now SNSD is supposedly to blame for the MONEYVAL grey list,” Košarac added.

According to him, by the “Troika’s” logic, SNSD is responsible for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina failing to establish a register of beneficial owners of legal entities, which is the key reason why MONEYVAL is returning Bosnia and Herzegovina to the grey list.

“What does SNSD have to do with establishing a register in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina?” Košarac asked, adding that it is easier for Konaković to accuse SNSD than to admit that the Bosniak coalition is incapable of managing processes, even at levels where SNSD has no personnel at all.

He said it would be far better and more useful for them to use a bulldozer to clean up their own backyard.

“Republika Srpska, as a good neighbour of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has already called on the competent authorities there to establish a register of beneficial owners in the same way it was done in Republika Srpska, because it represents an important mechanism in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing,” Košarac concluded.
