Gratitude is owed to the entire Russian Federation for being a firm guarantor of the Dayton Peace Agreement, because when Dayton is protected, Republika Srpska is protected as well, said Siniša Karan at a press conference.
Earlier, officials of Republika Srpska held a meeting with a high-level delegation of the Russian Federation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko.
“It is a great honour for our Republic that we had the honour of hosting a high-level delegation of the Russian Federation. The meeting itself lasted twice as long as planned, which only shows that we have excellent cooperation,” Karan said.
He added that diplomatic relations are not the only bond connecting the Russian and Serb peoples, but also a shared history, the anti-fascist struggle, common culture, life values and everything else that unites the two nations.
“Republika Srpska is committed to peace, dialogue and cooperation, and the fact that you value our position gives us the right to persevere. Republika Srpska is committed to all those who respect our constitutional position and our people, and the Russian Federation certainly stands out in that regard,” Karan added.
Karan also spoke about international law in light of major global conflicts.
“Does international law even exist today? It has been collapsing for many years. The definite destruction of international law began with the breakup of Breakup of Yugoslavia, followed by recognition of self-proclaimed Kosovo. There remains a major gap even today,” Karan stated.
