Our top boxer Sara Ćirković made a successful start at the World Cup being held in Brazil.
The young fighter from Bratunac defeated Melani Martinez by unanimous decision in the first round of the bantamweight division (54 kg).
Sara will face home competitor Tati de Jesus in the round of 16.
The Boxing World Cup is being organized by World Boxing, a federation recognized by the International Olympic Committee. The tournament is highly important in the process of collecting ranking points for the upcoming 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
Sara has been in Brazil for two weeks with her coach Mirko Ždralo, training in Foz do Iguaçu for the competition. She also stayed at a World Boxing camp, where she had the opportunity to spar with some of the best female boxers in the world.
