Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban congratulated the elected president of Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, on his victory in the repeated snap elections.
“Congratulations to the elected president of Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, on the great election victory! I wish you success in serving the sovereign will of your people and look forward to working together,” Orban wrote on X.
Karan had earlier received congratulations, among others, from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Congratulations were also sent by the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić.
SNSD candidate Siniša Karan, following the repeated snap elections for president of Republika Srpska, won 224,384 votes, or 50.54 percent, while SDS candidate Branko Blanuša won 213,513 votes, or 48.09 percent, according to preliminary results of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina after 100 percent of polling stations were processed.
