Dodik: There is no historical reason for Bosnia and Herzegovina to exist; it is a broken state

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a broken state—divided in every sense—and there is not a single historical reason for it to exist, said Milorad Dodik, leader of SNSD.

Dodik stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina was never truly a state, and that even if it had been, there are no realistic conditions for it to function as one today.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina remains nothing more than an imposed obligation, maintained by a force called the European Union and some of those who follow it. It is still a deception created on the basis of liberal concepts about how a society should be organized—into which irreconcilable peoples from the former Yugoslavia were forcibly crammed.”

He added that the same actors believed Yugoslavia had to be dismantled, while Bosnia and Herzegovina should be preserved on identical principles.

“They destroyed Yugoslavia, and then tried to preserve Bosnia and Herzegovina by forcing peoples who could not live together in Yugoslavia to accept a shared life in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Everything stems from that,” Dodik said in an interview for Politika.

An elected president not removed by the people

Dodik emphasized that he is an elected president of Republika Srpska who was not removed by the will of the people, but by the decision of a foreign individual with no authority to do so—supported, he said, by Muslim judges in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“He made a decision, and I continue to perform all the duties. For those who consider me president—I am president. Those who do not consider me president did not consider me so even before that,” Dodik stated.

Asked whether he is the real president of Republika Srpska, given that everyone still refers to him as president, Dodik replied that he carries several titles.

“First, I am president. Then they say I am the president of all presidents—since the president of Republika Srpska, the prime minister, a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ten ministers in the government, and all ministers in the Council of Ministers come from the party I lead. So, in a somewhat relaxed, colloquial sense, they say I am the president of all presidents,” Dodik said.
