At the public forum “Conversation with the President” in Bijeljina, the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik said that if Republika Srpska had agreed to transfer its property to the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina — as Christian Schmidt intended — only parks and playgrounds would have remained within the entity.
“We clearly said that if they proceed with that plan, we will declare independence. They realized that could be dangerous. That’s why they decided to launch a court process against me. My associates and I were placed on the blacklist because we refused to hand over our property and to allow migrants to be settled in the territory of Republika Srpska,” Dodik said in a post on X.
He emphasized that Republika Srpska maintains strong relations with Russia, Hungary, Azerbaijan, and Israel, noting that conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin are conducted at the level of strategic partnership as defined by Moscow.
“We will continue to engage with our other friends on the international stage,” Dodik added.
The president reiterated that he would never give up on Republika Srpska or himself, but stressed that he has never advocated for conflict.
“The key is to preserve peace and stability. We have kept the peace, remained stable, and refused to create chaos. Muslims are blinded by hatred toward Serbs — I’m not speaking about Muslims as people, but about the Muslim political leadership in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The younger generations are far more patriotic than people think. They love Republika Srpska, this land, and our people. That’s the future. Without that, there would be no purpose in what we’re doing. Their love for Srpska is our collective success,” Dodik stated.
